Same problem, and my usual trick of deleting the core*dat files, etc. doesn't fix it.

Yes, I can confirm that.
Also, it seems that all the OS and other applications are basically frozen because there's not enough resources for them. Sometimes when I just wait long enough, ctrl+command+esc will still open the force quit dialogue window. But I never managed to kill the client through that, although I waited some 10ish minutes to see if the click on force quit actually accomplishes something. |

CCP Snorlax wrote:We have not had any luck in reproing this, but we have a patch going out tomorrow where we have at least an attempted fix.
I've gone through all changes to the graphics engine that went out in the patch that seems to have triggered the black screen on character select, and we're basically reverting those changes when running on a Mac. We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something.
Would it help you to get any of the crash histories or associated dumps?

Sent as bug report, files attached. |

CCP Paradox wrote:Just to ask, is anybody running EVE at their normal monitor resolution? Or do you have a second display connected to your mac at all?
I'm running it on an external display at 1920 x 1080. Always worked fine, before this problem. |

CCP Paradox wrote:Those of you with a second screen attached, just for an attempt could you please disconnect the display and try just on the one screen? Also, do you have anything else running while playing EVE? Internet browser, viewing videos, or something else? If you do, try closing all applications down and just try EVE.
I am reproducing some things right now, and anymore information would be handy to have.
Tried without second screen, exactly same problem.
Also tried right after booting macbook, with eve client first thing to be launched, same result. Actually the crash dumps I submitted with the bug report are from such a clean start attempt.

CCP Snorlax wrote:Yesterday's patching problems were resolved and our attempt at fixing the black screen on character select is finally out. Let me know if things have improved.
I patched, tried, but no. The problem exists exactly as before, so I guess the changes you guys made didn't fix it. |

I appreciate CCP's efforts to get this solved and I understand it takes some time, in particular without being able to reproduce the bug inhouse.
At the same time, there's players who haven't been able to log in for more than a week now. I know this is and always has been a controversial issue, but I think that least a SP reimbursement for the lost time would be a useful compensation. I'm not even talking about lost game time, potential ingame profits, etc. which are even more controversial. But at least compensating the lost training time to some extent would be nice gesture. Of course after resolving the issue itself which has higher priority for most of us, I guess. |

Patch worked for me, problem solved. Thx a lot, CCP Snorlax and whoever has been working on this as well!
Will we get any SP reimbursement for the lost 9 days? |
